The MTL5017 is a two-channel switch/proximity detector interface engineered for reliable operation in Zone 0/1/21/22 hazardous areas, combining intrinsic safety (IS) with advanced diagnostics. Part of Eaton's MTL5000 series, it supports NAMUR/DIN 19234-compliant sensors and provides 250Vrms isolation between hazardous-area inputs, safe-area outputs, and power supply, ensuring protection against ground loops and voltage transients.
Equipped with fail-safe relay outputs (0.5A/35V DC), the MTL5017 offers configurable response modes, including maintaining the last valid state or de-energizing during faults, aligning with SIL 2 requirements. Its LFD feature detects sensor circuit degradation with ±100μA precision, outperforming competitors that lack dynamic threshold adjustment.
